meditation to strength community

This community meditation needs a minimum of 5 people. It will help you to increase your sense of belonging and to reassure you that your energy can contribute to the enrichment of a group. This meditation can also offer support to a group in difficult times. It can strengthen the members` reliance on each other.

How to do the meditation:

  • All members of the community sit comfortably in a circle, holding hands.
  • All members` thumbs should be facing left, meaning that each members` left palm is facing upwards and right palm is facing downwards.
  • All members take a deep breath together and exhale together three times.
  • One member in the circle will be the initiator by squeezing a hand.
  • This leader will begin a flow of energy by squeezing the person`s hand next to him or her with their right hand.
  • The members of the circle will continue gently squeezing towards the right, each time with an out breath.
  • Each member receives and passes on the squeezing, creating a movement of energy within the circle.
  • The leader can initiate another round of squeezing at any time, depending on the circle`s capacity of breath and concentration.
  • The meditation can be continued for 7 to 11 minutes.
  • At the end of the meditation, the members repose in silence for as long as they would like, still holding hands.
  • Close the meditation by breathing in and out together three times.
