Tuesday Night Meditation: The First Chakra

The first three chakras are receptive. When we are not in receiving mode, we go into greed: for sex, for money, for power. We are lacking in surrender. But really, to be on Earth is to have confidence that you are being taken care of. It is a feminine quality.

When there is no trust, instead we have insecurities that need to be fed. For example, when the teacher gives you a gift, but then you question why you need it.

Be open to receiving the gift of life

The first chakra is our first test of our ability to be receptive. There needs to be a simple surrender to the divine, to the earth. Have you seen a dog when she gets to know you and trust you? She lies down on her back, exposing her belly, as if to say, “Pet me!”

It’s like that.

The first chakra is where we allow ourselves to be penetrated by life, symbolically and physically.

If you negate what life gives you, you are obstructing success in wealth, in health and in relationships. Our homework this week is to observe how the gift gives and the conditions we put on receiving that gift.

Over the next seven weeks we will be embarking on a journey into the central channel. Next week: the second chakra.

Weekly meditations take place every Tuesday from 6 to 7 p.m. at Cuppedia Cafe, 97 Main Street, Ottawa. The next monthly meditation in Wakefield takes place on October 29. For more information, visit http://www.bhuvaneswari.ca

My personal empowerment story

I arrived at her house one afternoon without really knowing who she was or what I was getting myself into. All I knew is that I desperately needed help: I couldn’t function properly anymore. My health was really poor. My nervous system was like a maraca: always shaking. I felt like I was losing my mind. Rather than me being in control of my emotions, my emotions were fully dominating me. And I was so disconnected from myself - my body, mind, heart and soul - that I was more like a zombie than a human being. It wasn’t until I met her and started studying with her that I began to understand what was behind all of that and thus, I started making positive changes in my Self and my life.

From a very young age I went through all kinds of abuse, from physical and emotional, to mental and sexual. That made me grow up not only in fear and with a little less than low self esteem, but also full of self-judgments, self-pity, self-comparison, self-pride and self-rejection. I was full of guilt and shame, anger and pain - many times self inflicted but still, I grew up angry and full of pain.

I also grew up believing that I was completely worthless, that I had to protect and defend myself from every single person I came across, that it was embarrassing being a woman, and that being a woman meant being weak. I could not see or find any quality within myself. And I could not express any feeling, emotion, thought or idea.

A simple toolkit to reconnect with myself

I was hopeless and helpless until I met Bhuvaneswari Devi (Ana-Karyn) 10 years ago. I started attending her classes and practising the simple yet powerful tools and techniques that she shares with all of her students. Going to her classes and listening to her teachings gave me a great deal of understanding about myself, my thought patterns, my actions and reactions, and my feelings and emotions. She always managed - and still does - to shed some light over me, so my darkness, my ignorance, my misconceptions and misbeliefs started becoming clear and realistic.

Practising breathing techniques, yoga exercises, meditation, self study, a daily healing fire, and different creative expressions was all part of the toolkit she offered in her classes, which at first posed what seemed to be a huge challenge, but with time, commitment, perseverance, and patience started becoming like a habit, part of a daily routine. Those disciplines – the classes, the teachings, the different tools and techniques - became my best allies and have helped me reconnect and rediscover myself and the many gifts that have lain dormant within me. They have also given me the inner strength, the self-confidence, and the power to look at myself with full acceptance, kindness, love and compassion.

Living in the here and now

With Ana-Karyn’s love and support, her teachings, her many tools and techniques combined with a little effort from my part, my life has taken a 180-degree turn. I can now live in the here and now, connected with myself and turning my life over to that Higher Divine Power that is always guiding and protecting me. I can now look at my flaws, weaknesses and mistakes with honesty and integrity then humbly make the necessary changes. I can now tap into that inner creative power within me and express myself in several different ways. Whenever my negative tendencies try to come back, I can now stay positive, focusing on my divine-given gifts, one at a time, and opening the door for them to fully flourish.

I now live a balanced, fulfilled, blessed, happy life. And, above all, I now find it a joy, a blessing and a privilege to be a woman. With all gratitude and humbleness I can now say that I am, as every woman is, the light of God, the love and joy of God, and the beauty and grace of God.

In gratitude and love,
Luz Vargas-Kmita

What are Bioenergetics assessments?

Bhuvaneswari Devi at the Health and Wellness Ottawa Fall Festival
When people ask me what a personal assessment is, they already have an idea in their minds that it’s something like a reading, where I am a crystal ball that knows something about them, either in the future or in the past.

They are expecting to be told things that they need to do to improve themselves, or they are immediately questioning whether the information I’m giving them is true or not.

The curious thing is that the assessment has nothing to do with that.

The personal assessment is a very intimate connection between the life force (pulse) of one individual and the impact that causes in the other one. It is a space of connection where the most outstanding preoccupation of the state of your being comes forward and is seen by the other.

Give room to your being

The pulse does not lie. It will give you an overview of where you are and what is locked within yourself. Sometimes what comes is the condition of the physical body. Sometimes it’s something you are trying to resolve within yourself. Sometimes it’s the unconscious impediments to your personal fulfillment. And sometimes it’s a blissful sensation of just being connected to other human being.

The personal assessments bring me two feelings: One is an unconditional love and appreciation of the individual beauty that is in front of me. The other is the compassion to see that most of us are trapped in the mind’s expectations of what to do and how to fix oneself. It is, in a way, risky to do assessments since people assume that position so easily and do not realize that all they need to do is to give more room to their BEING, to their joy and their natural way of being.

Bhuvaneswari Devi leading a meditation at the festival
The funny part is, however, that when I suggest what people need, they either know already but haven’t taken any action, or they dismiss it through doubt. Another position I see often is either they feel they know, but are far from being realistic about how to apply that knowledge, or they like to think they know and they are content with their position. I am not judging any of these positions however, it is clear that any of these positions are conducive to new learnings.

I must conclude that a personal assessment is an opening to hear the present condition of yourself, and to asses within you the learning steps that are required to maintain balance, health and wealth within yourself. The assessment is not done by me; the assessment is done by your ability to be sincere about where you are and how you are managing what you are required to do.

Personal bioenergetic assessments are free and take place by appointment. Email info@bhuvaneswari.ca to reserve your spot. To find out more, visit http://www.bhuvaneswari.ca

A DEVOTIONAL MEDITATION TO AWAKE THE PATH OF DIVINE MOTHERHOOD

A sweet expressive meditation, a simple one, a receptive one, is all you need to awake this blessings of your heart.

Sit quietly and go thought memories of your life since you where a baby.

Facts about women self-worth

everything falls or raise with our radiance

I am not shy to admit that the efficiency, happiness and health of my family, friends and business have an intimate relationship with my self-evaluation.
It never fails, in at long or short term, every time I am not in my full understanding of who I am and for what I am capable of, things crumble under my feet, and I am not able to deliver my potentials.
It is even more danger to let the doubting feeling to grow with no perspectives of the truth or to dwell on those spaces that only brings a perpetuation of a false image about being a woman, a mother, a sister, a friend, or a daughter.

The virus have grows socially for centuries.

The sad part of the story is that that split moment of self-diminishing had take unrealistic dimensions and had spread trough different cultures, making woman believe they are weaker, smaller and inefficient. Woman had end up believing that and passing it to their generations without questioning the truth of the matter.

Let’s consider some energetic facts.

The soft and supple body of the woman is design to be the expression of the shakti or the feminine energy of the universe, it is in the woman body where humans takes form and shape, we create and regenerate the human race constantly.
Our offspring are shower from day one, with a love that no man can truly understand or relate. We can sacrifice, we can give and love unconditionally and we can have the endurance to go trough time with the same compassionated attitude. Woman are design socially, physically, and spiritually  to expand, grow, manifest, and radiate 16 times more that man.

This may be a complex concept for you, however all you need to understand here is that woman have 16 times more capacity to elevate, to construct, to understand, to be intuitive, sensitive and responsible. Woman have 16 energetic tracks that makes her multitasking, multi-being, and multi-creator.

Honoring the use of our 16 tracks

The existence of this palette of resources make woman to be able to take any work with 16 possible different things going at the same time. We are able to have a heart beat in our belly, nurse a child in one hand, move the soup in the stove with the other hand, and think what we need in our shopping list. We have the potential to do these projects with compassion and centerness. We are 16 times more intelligent, more emotional and more beautiful. It is really up to us to make that statement solid in our belief system and to live to that standard. This is a female commitment that we don’t take serious enough. We don’t see the impact that that negligence brings to the world. We oppositely use this 16 tracks against us, making us 16 times more destructive, 16 times more commotional, 16 times more dramatic, 16 times more unfocused. We also need to realize that that impact ripples in the consciousness of 7 generations. We do have the power, the responsibility and the honor to make an impact that is uplifting or miserable in 7 generations. Yes !! seven…

We are wide and deep

The depth and the wideness of our energy fields are really incomparable with any other existence in this planet. We sustain the one track of our suns, husbands and male friends and family members. We are able to project to them a position of sensibility, compassion and understanding. We give them birth, and we keep carry them trough life in a different but very similar way.
We can inspire them or destroy them. If all the woman in the world understand and honor this energetic principal, will be no wars, no hunger, no abuse.

Starting in the present moment

All we need to do is to realize our self-worth. Not to let our inner uneducated voices to sabotage that value and to react to it. Otherwise we will manifest persons and situations around us that challenge that belief. We will meet the insecure man try to put us down, or the woman that show us the result of our ignorance. Be proud of your capacities, expand your limits in a realistic way, praise yourself and walk tall to any circumstance, because it is a fact that you do have the capacity to elevate yourself  and others 16 times more that any human being in this planet.

Tuesday Night Meditation: Big tantrum, small tantrum

We had a nice cozy group at the opening session of this fall’s meditation classes this past Tuesday. Teresa was thrilled to receive us back with her warm quesadillas, teas and goodies.

We were commenting on how important it is to move our bodies and to keep serving, to keep putting our talents out there. We all were intrigued by the women’s empowerment day and by how our own tantrums prevent us from getting out there and showing the world our beauty, grace and power.

Big tantrum vs small tantrum

I spoke of the difference between the big tantrums and the small tantrums. The small tantrum happens when we are aware that we are feeling discomfort; when we are resenting, judging and opposing any experience in life.

The big tantrum is the one that we carry from one life to another. It is so close to us that we adapt to it; we are not completely aware of it. All we know is that we are not at ease in our life, in our experiences and in our relationships. This type of tantrum is not easy to pinpoint, since it dwells in the subconscious, and is introjected and perceived as part of us.

We did in meditation some self-awareness exercises that may facilitate the navigation in that area.

Post your comments here

I am inviting you to post your comments here based on what you experienced this week. We can learn from each other; we can support each other; we can inspire each other.

Club Yoga kids have lots of fun on TV

Lianne Laing interviews Bhuvaneswari as Anamda leads the Club Yoga kids
Club Yoga was featured on Ottawa’s A Channel morning show today and it was a great success! Being interviewed on TV brought full alertness and joy to the whole Club Yoga team. I so enjoyed warming up the kids who willingly and naturally participated.
The Club Yoga kids get ready for their next move
The four children were quiet at first, but curious. Camila is Spanish-speaking and her grandmother, visiting from Chile, was in the studio audience. So proud she was! Lila came all the way from Ladysmith, Quebec, an hour-and-a-half drive from Ottawa. Carter, who has been in Club Yoga for five years, was surely a professional showing everything he knows to us before the show. And Jessica was like a sweet bird in front of the cameras.

The children had a great time, giving Club Yoga Director, Anamda, a big hug at the end. They also enjoyed the donuts and muffins provided by the station afterwards!

I so thank you all for that early morning meeting, and for Anamda and her bright, colourful clown socks and red nose. I could see the smile of satisfaction as she contemplated the fruitful service of Club Yoga in the community.
Bhuvaneswari shares her enthusiasm with host Lianne Laing
If you didn't get a chance to watch the show, click on this link for the full Club Yoga children's yoga demonstration and interview with Bhuvaneswari Devi.

Club Yoga classes take place on Sunday mornings in Ottawa starting September 19 and in Wakefield starting October 3. You can find all the details at http://clubyoga.wordpress.com/whats-new/

Vata season is here!

Signs that you are feeling the influence of the Fall change of season:
You feel spacey and find it difficult to focus
Your skin feels dry and rough
You have a cold
You want to sleep longer
You feel more sensitive or emotional
You have less stamina
You don't want to go outside
You feel anxious, nervous, worried or all of the above
You want to take more hot baths
You are constipated
Your digestion is poor, with gas and bloating

How to temper the air element and meet the Fall change of season with ease:
Breathe, breathe, breathe...long, slow, deep.  This will ground you, keep you in your body and relieve anxiety.

Cold Showers: believe it or not!  Cold showers strengthen your nervous system and actually leave you feeling warmer in the end and make you able to tolerate the cold better.
Warm, moist, heavy, oily, sweet, salty and sour foods: these foods ground the body and mind, build tissues, help the body to retain moisture and create warmth in the body. Some examples are: ghee, dry ginger powder, honey (do not heat honey), sweet potatoes, squash, carrots, basmatti rice (with warming spices like cinnamon and ginger), almonds (soaked overnight and skins removed) and chai spiced tea.

Warm Oil Massage: Sesame oil is warming and heavy.  It is grounding and lubricating.  It is one of the best ways to calm Vata.  Warm it first (on stove), and apply to body with strokes moving towards the heart.  Take extra care to massage the joints.  If you have a partner, ask them to massage you...gentle and soothing is the key for this season.  Or, book a massage with me...I offer a relaxation massage that will soothe away the Fall chillies and willies.

Routine: Establish a realistic and regular daily routine that includes regular meals and getting to bed by 10pm.  Try not to rush around and pack too many things into your day.  The wind is moving quickly, so try to balance it by moving more slowly.

Warm Drinks: Keep drinking lots of water, as we tend to dry out during the Fall and Winter. Make sure you take warm water.  Cold water and ice water kill the digestive fire, which inhibit the digestive process.

Upliftment: Stay grounded, yet uplifted with joyful, calming music.  Snatam Kaur's album Grace is always a beautiful one.  Sing in the shower...it will help you to endure the cold ones.  Smile more and drop the little things that are really no big deal.  Remember...this too shall pass!

The responsability to be a woman

yes, it is true that the majority of people I see in my practice are women.
They may vary in age, interests, roles or countries, but one thing is sure, they all have in common a challenge: Women are powerful fluctuating creatures with no notion of the extent of their power, grace and beauty.

I have found myself constantly challenging the layers of self-pity, guilt, pride, pain, self-comparison and dramas from their mind and their energy field. It is always a revelation the ways in which after a period of teaching and self-commitment, woman can save their marriage, change their family and inspire any other human being to be greater and happier.
I firmly believe that if women take responsibility for manifesting their happiness, the world will be a real projection of the expansive creative power of their divinity.

We (women) may have come to earth to realize the truth of our capacities and the impact that we are constantly making in the formation of the whole humanity. We may have to face the darkness of ignorance, not knowing the sacred impact in future generations and in the psyche of man. Regardless of the higher plan, I do know that it is most painful to see the treasures of women’s potentials being invalidated by their own unconsciousness and poor choices.

I must confess that my motivation to have the one day empowerment for women workshop is based in seeing the consequences of their poor self-esteem in the faces of children. I, as a visionary, can see their children’s children carrying the same poor information and communication from generation to generation and from life to life.

As a teacher, I feel obliged to denounce that there are solutions that are simple and effective to change the poverty, the violence and the poor consciousness in human beings. That is why I am inviting women that have already experienced their power to share it with other less privileged women. I am also inviting low-income, women who carry burdens in their mind or in their emotions to come forward with no shame. Please come to the WOMEN’S EMPOWEMENT DAY workshop. It light, it is deep, it is fun and is uplifting to your reality. It has no dogma, no religion, and no politics. It is a simple pass on wisdom, from heart to heart, from culture to culture, from old times to new times. Take your seat, and acknowledge you do have a responsibility toward the future and to every human being you connect with, and the power to transcend your reality.

WHAT PEOPLE SAID ABOUT THE 9TH RAY

My experience of the `` wise woman`` was one of strong connection. This workshop allowed me to consolidate  the power of healing within and to deepen my connection with the spirit of nature. In this time of energetic shifting , reconciling with the feminine force is not only of popular interest but it is our responsibility.
I am deeply thankful towards Bhuvaneswari Devi for her grace and vision.

Joana

The ninth ray was a powerful day of connection and presence.

Eye Spa Therapy

After the age of forty, alochaka pitta, the elemental fire energy associated with vision, tends to diminish. The eyes then become more susceptible to irritation. Eye strain is also sometimes caused by dryness of the conjunctiva (due to excess vata in the system). In some cases it is related to excess heat and acidity in the stomach (due to excess pitta), both of which render your eyes more sensitive to dry air, excessive reading, computer work, contact lenses, or chemical solutions. The eyes are also related to the liver, and stagnant heat in the liver is yet another common cause of eye strain.

Making your own remedy to relieve eye strain:

--list--Prepare a solution of rose water. Take 1 ounce of distilled or purified water, add 5 drops of pure rose water, and use the solution to rinse your eyes. Use a dropper or an eye cup, and be sure the water is neither too cold nor too hot. This solution soothes irritation. (Buy pure rose water from a health food store and check to make sure that it has no preservatives or artificial ingredients). If the irritation is acute, you can put 3 drops of pure rose water into each affected eye. Rose water is cooling and tonifying and will quickly soothe burning, irritated eye.

The simplest and best remedy for irritated eyes: Put a single drop of pure, genuine castor oil (without preservatives) into your eyes at bedtime. Rubbing a little castor oil on the soles of your feet at bedtime also helps. Remember to wear some old socks that you don't mind throwing away after a certain number of treatments. (Castor oil is quite thick and sticky and can create a film in your washing machine).

If excess acid and high pitta are a causal factor of eye strain, pacify acidity by taking 2 tablespoons of aloe vera gel 3 times a day before meals.

Try washing your eyes with one of the remedies below:

Tridoshic eyewash (for high pressure, burning, tension, irritation): try triphala eyewash: ¼ tsp. in 1 cup water, boil for 10 minutes, cool and strain.
Pitta eyewash (for inflammation): use organic rose water (most commercial rose water has chemicals in it that will sting the eyes). See instructions above.
Kapha eyewash (for mucus conditions): try diluted cranberry juice, 3-5 drops in a teaspoon of distilled water.

You can purchase an eye wash cup at most health food stores. Be sure to strain herbs extra well through many layers of cheesecloth or through an unbleached coffee filter.

General Eye Care

Take frequent breaks while reading or using a computer, placing your hands over your eyes to soothe them. Also, only read while sitting straight up. Use a non-glare computer screen if possible.

When you wash your face in the morning, fill your mouth with cool water and hold it there; then splash cool water over your open eyes. When you are done washing your face and eyes, spit the water out into the sink. This has a cooling effect both from outside and within. This will refresh your eyes and create a sense of wakefulness. Then proceed with the exercises below.

Ayurvedic Eye Exercises as taught by Dr. Vasant Lad

The following exercises will strengthen your eyes.

First, blink the eyes rapidly several times. Then, with eyes open, move your eyes in this pattern:
Up and down
Side to side
Diagonally from top left to bottom right
Diagonally from top right to bottom left
Clockwise in a circle
Counterclockwise in a circle

Hold your arm outstretched in front of you. Look at the tip of your index finger, and gradually bring the finger close to you, following it with your eyes, until it touches your "third eye," between your eyebrows.
Look at the tip of your nose, and then up toward your "third eye."
Finally, close your eyes tightly, then release. These exercises are beneficial for improving the circulation of the eccentric muscles of the eyeball.

After finishing the exercises, or anytime your eyes feel tired or strained, rub your palms vigorously together for a few seconds to generate some warmth, then place them lightly over your eyes. Feel how soothing the warmth is. Keep them there for a minute or two to strengthen and nourish your eyes.

Sun salutations (a sequence of yogic exercises) also help keep the eyes strong. Try to work your way up to 12 sets every morning.

Were you burned at the stake?

Yes, many of us carry the memory of  being unjustly accused of using the natural wisdom of the alchemist.
We have been left with scars that may prevent a full embrace of the wisdom of the earth. The empowerment of this frequency in your inner structure facilitates an opening to natural medicine and to intuitive healing. It also allows a different type of growing and connection to the earth vibrations

The power of the group
i was blessed this past weekend with the presence of women and men who facilitated communication with the earth beings that were so eager to be recognized as an important part of our spiritual wholeness.

One of the processes was to write a herbal poem. I was blown away by the accuracy and beauty of the outcome. Here are some examples for you to have a glimpse of this powerful and playful workshop.

Assimilation of the Blessed Thistle

Shielded in valiant green
Wise thistles will protect
Innocence of flower
Baby's hair of soft mauve
Fairer than vaunting royal purple
But ever kin to the bees
Who, unthwarted by your so-called armour
Relish in the priestess
Feast in this sweetness.

 Ode to the Golden Rod
by Christiane

I bow to You, Golden Rod,
Flower of late summer,
I bow to Your strenth,
Hidden by your frailty.
You dance in the wind,
Withstanding the strongest storms,
Your colour is illuminating,
Incarnating sunlight.
Your lightness gives joy the eye,
Your playfulness is uplfigting,
You're so graceful and humble!
Please learn me how to dance
And play with the winds,
Share your lightness and grace with me.
Stand by me to bring joy
And beauty to the Universe,
Shed your light on me,
So that I can bring it to the World!

I bow to you Queen of thistle,

Your blood flows from the earth,
To your bountiful flowers life trickles
My heart cries for your medicine,
To spread to others that listen,
Wonders and magic you behold ,
Within the essence of your light,
Shower me with your milk oh so bright ,
As without you darkness  prevails,
H.elp me lift the veil of  sorrow,
And spread the seed of joy,
As to smile upward to the sky,
Is my only prayer for all….
I yearn for your wisdom deeply in my womb,
Queen of thistle , protector of the vital force,

RECIPE OF THE WEEK sukhadi: energy Square

Ingredients:
1 cup organic spelt, kamut or whole wheat flour
3-5 tbsps ghee (clarified butter)
3-4 tbsps jaggery (or to taste)
1 tsp roasted sesame seeds

Directions:
Grease a large, flat pan or cookie sheet with ghee
Dry-roast sesame seeds in a hot skillet, stirring now and again to prevent burning
Chop jaggery, if it is hard
Heat a frying pan on medium and add the ghee
When ghee is hot, add whole flour of choice and stir it constantly until it is fragrant and slightly brown
Turn off heat and let mixture cool for a couple of minute
Add roasted sesame seeds and chopped jaggery and mix it well
Put mixture on the greased pan and gently pat it flat with a spatula until it is about 2-3 centimetres thick
With tip of a sharp knife, cut into bite sized diamond or square shapes

Nutritional Benefits:
An excellent food for energy, growth and strength
Great snack for growing children
A pinch of ginger powder will help to make it more suitable for Kapha and for the winter months
Kamut flour is lighter than both spelt and wheat, making it a better choice for Kapha.  Vata and Pitta can handle all 3 flours.  Wheat is heavy and can produce lethargy in the mind and puffiness in the face and belly.  Choose less often
